Ali Abualfa- Lebanon

Dr Ali Abu-Alfa is a Professor of Medicine, and Head of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the American University of Beirut. He is the Director for the Human Research Protection Program at AUB, and for Research Affairs at AUB Medical Center. He joined KDIGO as a member of its Executive Committee in January 2016. He is serving as the President-Elect/Vice President of the Lebanese Society of Nephrology. He is also a member of the Middle East Regional Board of the International Society of Nephrology, as well as the ISN Dialysis Committee.

Fuad R. Said, MD, is a graduate of the University of Jordan. He completed his Internal Medicine and Nephrology training at Brown University, USA. He is currently a clinical nephrologist at Jordan Hospital in Amman, and the Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency program there. His interests are transplant nephrology, renal disease in pregnancy, and hypertension.

Ian Roberts

Ian Roberts is Professor of Cellular Pathology at the University of Oxford, UK, and Director of Renal Pathology for Oxford University Hospitals. He is Chair of the ISN Pathology Committee, previous Chair of the European Society of Pathology Nephropathology Working Group and Past-President of the Renal Pathology Society. His research interests include IgA nephropathy and classification of glomerular diseases. He is a lead author of the Oxford Classification of IgA nephropathy and a member of the International Working Group that is revising the classification of lupus nephritis.

Mehmet Haberal –Turkey

On November 3, 1975, he performed the first living-related renal transplantation in Turkey. On October 10, 1978, he performed the first cadaveric kidney transplantation in Turkey. He performed the first ever successful Cadaver Liver Transplantation in Turkey, the Middle East and Northern Africa on December 8, 1988. He performed the first pediatric segmental living-related liver transplantation in Turkey, the region, and Europe on March 15, 1990. On April 24, 1990, he performed the first adult segmental living related living-related liver transplantation in the world.

Ronald Pisoni

Dr. Pisoni is a Senior Research Scientist and Deputy Principal Investigator for the Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) at Arbor Research Collaborative for Health. He is currently a co-Principal Investigator on a 5 year grant for Optimizing Prevention of Peritoneal Dialysis-Associated Peritonitis supported by the US Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ), serves as a Co-Investigator for the United States Renal Data System (USRDS) contract in playing key roles in directing research and writing annual data report chapters on vascular access, anemia management, international registry comparisons, and renal replacement therapy transitions. Stefan G. Tullius

Stefan G. Tullius, MD, PhD, is the Chief of Transplant Surgery. His research career in transplantation immunology covers a period of more than 15 years. His work on chronic graft rejection has contributed greatly to an improved understanding of the pathophysiology of long-term graft failure. His more recent research interests include individualized immunosuppression and the investigation of basic mechanisms of clinically relevant aspects in organ transplantation, focusing on novel routes for the improvement of organ quality.

Torki Al Otaibi – Kuwait

The Chairman of the department of Transplant Nephrology in Hamed Al Essa Organ Transplant Centre in Kuwait since 2008. He is also affiliated to Kuwait University Medical School and Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialization for teaching and training of under graduate and post graduate of medical students. He is also a member in the KIMS Nephrology post graduate training Board. Dr Torki is also a member of several academic and administrative committees of Ministry of Health, Kuwait. William Fissell

Dr. Fissell is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University, where he directs research in artificial organs, tissue engineering, pharmacokinetics, and dialysis in acute kidney injury. He also teaches nephrology in acute and chronic care settings at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Hospital.

Ziad S. Zaky – USA

Dr. Ziad S. Zaky is a board-certified nephrologist and UNOS certified transplant nephrologist. He is a member of the American Society of transplantation and the International Society of transplantation. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.
